Our Mission

NuVOE is dedicated to discovering, producing, and peserving new and exceptional works of art that will entertain, educate, and challenge our audiences. An extension to our mission is our commitment to maintaining and enriching the legacy of treasured works by renowned playwrights and composers and to the development of works for and by young people.

History

Nu Visions of Excellence Theatre Company was established in 2003 by Brandon White and Ronald Lee Newman. The idea spawned from a class assignment while the two were obtaining their B.F.A. degrees from Howard University. Seeing the need for more work for and by theatre artists and administators of color they began laying the foundation for the company. In 2005, they established a Board of Directors consisting of local community members as well as respected theatre artists, administrators, educators, and businessmen. In 2007, as part of the 2nd Annual Capitol Fringe they produced their inaugural production, Breathe by Jovan Johnson.
